Wood Wood's Nod To Wim Wenders Classic - Paris, Texas
Wood Wood take inspiration from Wim Wenders iconic masterpiece Paris, Texas. The soul searching portrait of a mans journey from a pro longed bout of amnesia set in Americas sleepy southwest. Wenders, a European born in Dusseldorf, Germany captures an America that perhaps only an outsider can fully realise and like Wenders, Wood Wood have such a vantage point. Taking a cue from one of cinemas most memorable scenes - the uncomfortable encounter between 2 ex lovers in a peep show parlor, Jane the female character's red knitted scooped back dress is perhaps one of cinemas most iconic images of clothing and film. Jane's character played by Nastassja Kinski with her honey hair, ripe lips and European sex appeal has influenced many a look book shoot - it is after all completely legit to reference art house cinema especially when it does such a good job of creating visual icons. Watch out for other European Brands or perhaps Melbourne's Perks & Mini referencing this modern classic, but for now enjoy the dress and the knowledge that Wood Wood come correct when it comes to choosing visual queues for their SS12 collection.
