The Goodhood Store's Guide To Summer Shirts

The Vacation Shirt
Vacation, or holiday to us Brits, is a word on a lot of peoples minds right about now. The patented Vacation shirt has received an unfair rap in recent years due to unsightly tourists, but forget that. Channel your inner road trippin' Hunter S Thompson with our Vacation Shirt picks of Spring/Summer 2012. Our Monitaly offerings come in a traditional Vacation Shirt silhouette with a wide collared open neck and relaxed shape, available in two incredible all over patterns. Perks & Mini represent their inner-vacay spirit with the expertly subtle indigo tie-dye Shuffle Shirt and if that wasn't enough already we have three refined short sleeve Cooke Shirts from Carhartt. Be sure to send us a postcard.

The Summer Oxford

Oxford cloth is a basketweave fabric popularly applied to button-down dress shirts. However in recent years, the term Oxford has become metonymic for a classic smart casual button-down shirt. Adored by preppy folk and streetwear enthusiasts alike, the Oxford Shirt is a sartorial staple the world over. This season The Goodhood Store has classic Summer Oxford offerings from Norse Projects in the form of their fan-favourite Anton shirt, available in Blue, Grey, White, Dark Navy and Yellow. In addition to this we also have a more street but no less refined offering from Carhartt available in both trademark Blue and White. No mans wardrobe is complete without a solid line-up of Oxford Shirts.

The Perfect White Shirt

Too formal. Too Casual. Not Quite Right… The search for the Perfect White Shirt is one of the longest standing quests of contemporary menswear. The Perfect White Shirt is our equivalent to the Little Black Dress and here at The Goodhood Store we appreciate the difficulties involved in finding that finely tuned PWS. So to make everyones lives a little bit easier we have selected three supreme candidates for your Perfect White Shirt.

The Workwear Shirt

Workwear shirting is built to last, utilitarian to the truest sense of the word. We have some excellent Workwear-inspired picks this season at The Goodhood Store. The tough Heavy Villads shirt has become a real highlight in the Norse Projects stable and this season the Danes have crafted it to absolute perfection. Heavy weight but extremely wearable with complimentary wooden buttons, the Villads is an optimal Workwear choice. Available in Leaf Clover Green, Off-White and Navy. Arguably the greatest workwear brand of all time Carhartt of course has some excellent offerings too in the form of the ripstop Leaf Green Mission Shirt as well as the rinsed denim Clink Shirt.
Denim/Chambray

Paired with rolled chinos or shorts, a classic blue Denim/Chambray shirt is a Summer essential. This season we have two classic selections from Paul Smith including the lightweight Light Chambray shirt with a subtle contrast pocket and classy gold stitching throughout. We also have a very special Bleach Wash shirt from our very own Goodhood x R. Newbold collaborative collection, with it's mother of pearl popper fasten-front and overlocked raw hem, this is one not to be missed.

Panel Shirt

Panelled Shirts are a particular favourite here at The Goodhood Store, and it's safe to say that right now nobody in the world is doing it better than Junya Watanabe. The master of mixed material shirting, Junya seamlessly brings together diverging fabrics with an insane level of detailing creating some of the most beautiful shirts on the market. However, we appreciate that Junya is not for everyone, which is why we have equally as stunning shirting from the likes of Norse Projects, Universal Works and Garbstore to satisfy all of your panelled needs.

Check/Gingham

Another key element to every mans Spring/Summer wardrobe, our checked picks for SS12 include the brushed cotton Lobster Head Check Shirt from PAM, stunning reverse panel check Frazier Shirt from Wood Wood as well as classic gingham offerings from the Norse Projects crew.
