Following our piece about the new “Epiphany” sunglasses which were premiered by Karen Walker at her 7th showing at New York Fashion Week we thought we’d give you a few more details of the show. The show was for her spring / summer 2010 collection entitled “The Village” in reference to one of the collection’s major inspirations, the cult 60’s TV show, “The Prisoner”. Karen is quoted as having said “We’ve been re-watching The Prisoner and have always loved the look it has – a 60’s take on Edwardiana seaside – all navy blazers, tan chinos and stripy t-shirts. Even more so though we love its central idea of a seaside holiday resort that’s actually a prison for retired spies.”

Following our recent post about Karen Walker Eyewear’s recent ad campaign and its striking vampire-esque models, the high-flying designer has come to our attention again with yet another stunning set of new sunglasses. The new “Epiphany” glasses are part of the designer’s final-season collection of 2009 entitled “She’s Cracked” and the glasses were first previewed, along with the rest of the “She’s Cracked” collection, at New York Fashion Week to much critical acclaim. We always like to keep an eye out for any of our brands that get spotted in the media, this time we spotted even more Karen Walker eyewear – people are just loving it at the moment. The New-Zealand born designer’s reputation is for unpretentious, original, effortless style and her sunglasses are a mix of both casual and tailored influences. They have been described in the press as having “The kind of look that provides a means of appearing cool but not trying-too-hard, cute but not saccharine, alternative but not self consciously so. The fact that these clothes appear to be so totally not fashion is what makes them so now”. We like that.
We spotted a pair of her Duper Strength sunglasses being worn by model and TV presenter Alexa Chung in a U.S. photo-shoot called “Streets of New York” and they really fitted the theme of effortless yet high-end style. Alexa was recently signed as the new face of DKNY replacing the previous face Daisy Lowe. The U.S. MTV presenter is the latest in a line of U.K. girls to make a name for themselves in America which seems to be going crazy at the moment for Brit-girls with a quirky edge such as Alexa, Daisy and Peaches Geldof. With this in mind, check out our range of Karen Walker eyewear…you never know where it’ll lead you!
