patternCheck out this book published by Collins Design called “Pattern Factory” (known as “Pattern Department” in Japan) by Ayako Terashima. This stunningly put together book has had a lot of thought put into it and contains a beautifully selected collection of patterns by contemporary designers and artists such as Julian Opie, Keiichi Tanaami and goodhood favourites Perks and Mini. As well as the stunning collection of patterns, the book includes interviews with the likes of Eley Kishimoto, Mike Mills, Sousou, Lizzie Finn and Fabrick / Medicom Toy whose latest range of homewear can be found on the Medicom Life brand pages of goodhood. The interviews give a great insight to the artists’ sources of inspiration and working processes as well as behind the scenes photographs of their factories and studios.

The author, Ayako Terashima, actually features on goodhood with his collaboration with Will Sweeney, the “Alakazam” range. Alakazam is an ongoing creative project mainly producing seasonal collections of t-shirts which feature collaborations with the likes of Robert Green, Susumu Mukai and Matt Furie. Alakazam has also produced several exhibitions of work which includes shows at Slam Jam in Milan, Colette in Paris and Undercover in Tokyo. If you can’t wait to get hold of a copy of Pattern Factory, take a look at our collections by contributors Perks and Mini, Medicom Life and Alakazam.
