JensenLet’s continue with our introductions to some our new brands – today we’d like to introduce you to Danish born, London based Peter Jensen. In 1999 Peter graduated from Central St Martin’s in Fashion Design Menswear trained and accomplished in various fields including graphic design and embroidery. Peter is now based in Hackney not a million miles from our store and is building on his already great international reputation gained from collections shown at London Fashion Week. Previous collections from Peter have hinted at themes of class-consciousness by referencing works by gritty British film directors such as Ken Loach and Mike Leigh but Peter keeps coming back to his most well-known recurring muse – female icons both real and fictional.

Peter’s collections have referenced modern, historical and fictional women including the avant-garde lesbian heiress Gertrude Stein, the artist Cindy Sherman, “Fanny” from Ingmar Bergman’s “Fanny and Alexander” and British actresses including Alison Steadman and Brenda Blethen who were referenced in his “Alison” and “Brenda” collections respectively. Peter’s work may be considered eccentric and quirky but it always remains eminently wearable, and our personal favourites are his floral puffas from this year’s Autumn / Winter collection – once we saw them, we knew we had to have him.
