Willhelm Retrospective

December 17th, 2009 by red

BHSome of our favourites are really getting busy at the moment – Medicom are dropping greatness pretty much constantly right now and avant-garde German designer Bernhard Willhelm is also working like a mad man too! He’s been interviewed by magazines, designed Alice in Wonderland dresses, released new boots with Camper and now he’s got a 10 year retrospective of his and partner in crime Jutta Krauss’ visually stunning works on the go too! The exhibition is being held in the Netherlands at the Groninger Museum which is a bit of a design feast itself having been partly designed by the legendary Phillipe Starck.

The exhibition covers more than thirty collections that Willhelm and Krauss have released over the past ten years, so all your favourites will be there! Naturally a lot of creativity has gone into the presentation of the exhibits which include trademarks such as tiny underwear and Bernhard’s signature long socks which he justified in typically direct style at the opening do: “Of course, socks….It’s the first thing that one puts on in the morning!!” Can’t argue with that! If you can’t get yourself over to the Netherlands to catch the exhibition, there’s also a book of their work with over 500 pictures available from the Groninger website which should be a must for any true Willhelm fans!
