Robert Crumb’s seminal one page comic Keep on Truckin’ is one of the most recognisable images in contemporary comic book art.  Much to his distaste, the strips were adopted as an image of optimism for the hippie generation and as a direct result Crumb refocused the direction of his work into the perverse sexual fantasies that we all know and love him for today.

The strip was also famously reproduced on an array of items such as t-shirts, posters, billboards – all without Crumb’s permission resulting in a decade long copyright battle. In recent years Crumb reportedly turned down a $100,000 offer from Toyota to reproduce the image for an advertising campaign and it remains one of the great early pieces from the prolific artists portfolio.
