Robert Brewster Newbold created R.Newbold back in 1885 in the town of Derby England. R.Newbold began as a clothing factory, manufacturing an assortment of garments, including, shirts for men and women, workwear and tailored clothing.

R. Newbold was taken over by Paul Smith in the early 1990's and was officially launched as a collection in 1993 with Ian Paley of Garbstore taking the design ques from the Newbold archive.

The Goodhood Store first collaborated with R. Newbold in 2007, and has became a regular fix in the stores offering. Every season a collection is produced that captures the stores aesthetic.
