Founded by Kihachiro Onitsuka in 1949, ASCIS is a leading performance and sportswear brand, utilising advanced technology to enhance the sport and lifestyle experience. Known for being the Japanese giants of running shoes, ASICS have become a phenomenon in the fashion industry collaborating with leading designers, specifically, the long standing partnership with Kiko Kostadinov, creating sportstyles that take the brands advanced design approach and updates it with cues of cultural and modern influences.

HOKA ONE ONE U TECTON X 2 TS

Hoka One One is an athletic shoe company originating in France that designs and markets running shoes. The company was founded in 2009 in Annecy, France and has since gone on to become market leaders in high-performance footwear. Hoka means 'fly over the earth' - a definition uncompromised in their introductory offering at Goodhood. Merging utility and style with unparalleled comfort sees the arrival of a collection of superior hybrid performance shoes.

BRAIN DEAD

Brain Dead is a creative collective of artists and contributors from around the world. With influences rooted in post-punk culture, underground comics and skateboarding, Brain Dead’s disruptive graphic identity is conceived. Not one person, nor is it one idea, Brain Dead sits in the space between people, being a favourite for graphic adorned clothing and playful t-shirts.

METALWOOD

They're back. Metalwood Studio is an ode to golf in the ‘90s and some of the early 2000s–the technology boom is just starting to happen. The pros of yesteryear are trading in their persimmon woods and balata balls for something a little faster and more aggressive. They’ve exchanged flares and 4-button placket polos with the baggiest, frumpiest shit they could find; long before the yoga-but-make-it-golf clothes of today.

HERESY

British-born brand Heresy rubs their crystal ball, conjuring up a range of seasonal pieces borrowing imagery from mysticism and folklore. A breath of fresh air, they’re definitely one to watch with their heritage garments woven with motifs, embroidery and prints.

STUSSY

Shawn Stussy, a surfboard shaper known for the punk rock/new wave-inspired artwork on his boards, made T-shirts with his own name to promote his surf brand. In the mid-80s he partnered with Frank Sinatra Jr, an accountant bowled over by Stüssy’s genuine character, forming an unlikely partnership that led to Stüssy being introduced to the wider world.

CAV EMPT

Based in Tokyo, Cav Empt (C.E.) was founded by Sk8thing, Hishi and Toby Feltwell. Previously working together, the trio have joined forces to form C.E. As the graphic designer for A Bathing Ape, Billionaire Boys Club and Human Made, Sk8thing is highly experienced (and respected) when it comes to producing playful and exciting products. C.E. has risen from its previously relatively unknown status into one of the hottest brands in the business today, with some unbeatable and unique graphic outputs.

SNOW PEAK

Founded by Japanese-born mountaineer Yukio Yamai in 1958, Snow Peak was born out of a dissatisfaction with outdoor products and a desire to create the most superior gear on the market. Fast forward to today and the brand is continuing to do just that. Hailing from Niigata Prefecture, where the sky meets sea via a mountain range rising up to 8,000 ft, the brand is one of Japan's leaders in the outdoors.

STUDIO NICHOLSON

Studio Nicholson was founded in 2010 by Nick Wakeman. With 20+ years of experience in the design industry, Wakeman was determined to launch a brand that utilised the skills she’d honed in the 1990s, during her graduate studies in Textile Design at the Chelsea School of Art. Drawing inspiration from Japanese architecture, interiors, grunge music, 1990s sub-culture and geological landscapes, she creates adaptable, elegant and truly functional pieces that form the basis of the ultimate modular wardrobe.

CAWLEY

Cawley Studios was founded in 2017 by Hannah Cawley, born out of a desire to champion everyday clothes that simultaneously celebrated the highest in quality craftsmanship and British manufacturing. Each and every garment is designed to be functional, timeless in style as well as physically lasting. Her pieces are intended to play a role in everyday life, whatever that may entail. Each piece is individually hand cut and made in London with the materials being sourced from traditional fabric mills in a variety of locations such as England, Ireland, Portugal, India and Japan.

S.K. MANOR HILL

s.k. manor hill’s designs are inspired by vintage garments and classic silhouettes from around the world. Conscientious construction and attention to detail are key in each piece of apparel. All items are made in New York City predominately using natural fiber fabrics sourced from Europe and Japan. s.k. manor hill creates clothing for those who have a deep appreciation of meticulous craftsmanship, timeless design, and long lasting quality.

GIRLS OF DUST

Amomento, founded in Seoul in 2014, aims to create timeless and effortless pieces designed to be cherished forever. Their philosophy extends beyond fashion, emphasizing the individuality of the person wearing the clothing.

S-BA

S-BA is an independent womenswear label based in London, redefining the traditional fashion calendar. Instead of following the usual biannual seasons, the brand focuses on creating one main collection each year, with select pieces becoming timeless staples. Every item is thoughtfully designed and handcrafted, either in-house or in collaboration with a small East London manufacturer.

BEAMS BOY

YanYan is a premium knitwear brand founded by former rag & bone Director of Knitwear Phyllis Chan with Hong Kong designer Suzzie Chung. Their grandmothers taught them to embrace their own individual sense of style, be fearless and wear what makes them happy. Their products are a reflection of that attitude – fun, eclectic pieces that juxtapose modern and traditional elements.

GIMAGUAS

Born in 2018, they are a Barcelona-based brand powered by conversations with each other, and the world around us. The collections are created in collaboration with artists and artisans that the brand admire, with a focus on relaxed silhouettes, technical knitwear and craft-inspired detail. All Gimaguas pieces are designed in Barcelona and most are proudly made in Spain.

Nache clothing focuses on creating unisex apparel that blends avant-garde and casual styles, characterised by unsecured and deformable silhouettes that adapt to the moment. Their designs aim for a continuous and dynamic aesthetic in fashion. Exclusively stocked by Goodhood in the UK.

WE HAVE TO CREATE CULTURE

The words and learnings from ethnobotanist Terence McKenna are important to us. He once said “Culture is not your friend” and believed we should create our own experiences and communities instead of consuming the ones projected by the mass media. This quote inspired by him is printed on the walls of our store and are a great reminder that we need to create our own culture. Important now more than ever.

PALM OF FERONIA

Palm of Feronia is a small-batch natural self-care brand focused on the ancient principles of aromatherapy and crystal healing. Feronia is the ancient Roman goddess associated with wildlife, fertility, health, healing, and abundance.

ARTWORDS BOOKSHOP

ARTWORDS is an independent bookshop founded in 2001 that specialise in books and zines on the contemporary visual arts and visual culture. For 20 years they were close neighbours of ours, with their first store on Rivington Street and are now staples of Broadway Market. They have been much missed in Shoreditch so we asked them to curate an edit of books for the Goodhood community that will be forever evolving.

STRANGER THAN PARADISE

We’ve teamed up with our friendly record store neighbours Stranger Than Paradise to curate an ever-evolving edit of records and special edition vinyls, available online and in-store from our record wall. Ran by three long time friends and named after Jim Jarmusch’s 1984 masterpiece, Stranger Than Paradise is an Independent record store in the heart of Hackney, dedicated to sourcing a carefully curated selection of the best new release, reissue and special edition vinyl.

UNIFIED GOODS

We're working with progressive vintage dealer Unified Goods to create an ongoing guest space that will house a library of unique goods, curated by head honcho James Goodhead. Expertly sourced, culture defining, cult status clothing and lifestyle objects from around the globe, featuring artefacts spanning the realms of post-punk, 90's era Warp Records, the halcyon eras of skate culture, iconic Anime or Japanese Street Fashion.
