Ransom Note editor-at-large Ally Tropical delivers a whole batch of warm, eclectic electronica for Good Vibes number 66.
Originally, this mix was conceived as a summer assortment of tracks but somehow it mutated into some ugly beast towards the end. The sunshine does strange things to your head…
You’re currently Editor at Ransom Note, which is an online music/culture publication, runs a record label, and has a record shop in East London. How did you get involved?
I’ve been in London for coming up three years now. Pretty scary when you think about it, time flies. All I can say is that I don’t think I could work with a nicer bunch of people, much love to all of that lot.
What's the scene like back at home in Glasgow?
Glasgow is a little bubble - in some ways good and in some ways bad. The scene is highly saturated but that’s because people just love electronic music up there, it really punches above its weight and that’s something to be proud of. I miss it a lot but London isn’t so bad.
What have you been up to recently?
Just back from Nuits Sonores in Lyon, love that festival and the people are super cool.
Name 3 records you couldn’t live without?
Tough question!
Creative Source – Creative Source
Oni Ayhun – OAR003
Azimuth – Azimuth
Which producers/DJs do you look up to, and why?
Far too many to mention.
What does the rest of 2018 hold for you?
The excess of summer - I’ll be at Kolorado in Budapest, The Tower, Farr etc.
