Created by Jean de Brunhoff in 1931, Babar the Elephant is one of the most loved and recognised children's characters of the past century. Originally invented by Brunhoff's wife as a bedtime story for their two boys, the first book was published in French and later in English.

The story of Babar is a harrowing one to say the least. After Babar's mother is shot by a hunter, he flees the jungle finding his way to the big city where he befriends an old lady who hires him a tutor and buys him his iconic green suit. Babar's cousins Celeste and Arthur find him in the big city and help him return back to the jungle only to be faced with the death of the King of the Elephants. Due to Babar's time in the city where he has, "lived among men and learned much" he is crowned the new king and we are introduced to his now famous yellow crown...and so the stories continue.

Soulland becomes the first menswear brand to license the original Babar the Elephant artwork, and they have handled the classic illustrations in a fresh and considered way. The all over print across shirts and shorts features Babar in a number of outfits and scenarios, whereas the crewneck sweatshirt features a delicate embroidery for those who don't want to go all out.
