The first edition of the new decade - we find out how the Goodhood crew are planning to live 2020, what they're wearing, reading, listening to and more...

Matt

Cardigan by Needles, Shirt by Wacko Maria, Trousers by Haven, Shoes by Converse & Jewellery by All BluesTom Wood.

What new brands are you looking forward to wearing this year and why?

I’m really looking forward to us adding South2 West8 to the Goodhood roster. I’m a big fan of all things Nepenthes and the collection we’ve got coming is particularly good. Think multi-pocket jackets, reversible tie-dye bucket hats and all things tenkara-inspired.

What's your favourite piece in-store currently and why?

Story Mfg.’s Sot Jacket - Second Trip. The thoughtfulness in production that goes into every Story Mfg. piece is second to none, and this jacket optimises that. Hand-embroidered, hand block-printed and naturally sun-bleached sums it all up quite well.

We're a month into a new year, did you make any resolutions? If so, what were they and have you managed to stick to any?

I didn’t strictly make any resolutions per se, but just aim to work hard and achieve even better things than last year. Hopefully, I can say I’ve started on the right foot at least!

Amy

Jacket by Carhartt WIP, Trousers by Dickies, Tote by Goodhood & Shoes by Clarks x Wu Wear

What was the most exciting thing you've read, album you listened to or watched last year?
I got gifted a copy of Vivien Goldman’s Revenge of the She-Punks for Christmas (shout out my Goodhood secret Santa) and it’s brilliant. It’s a feminist punk history and a must-read if you’re into punk music and the women who paved the way.

What's your favourite piece in-store currently and why?
The Aries Thrasher shorts. So good, I love a lairy graphic print. Shame I could only wear them for three days of the year when the sun comes out.

Who's your hero of last year and why?
Greta Thunberg. A teenager grabbing the attention of world leaders, celebrities and public figures and doing bits for the environment. So cool.

Joe

Jacket by Wacko Maria, Pants by Stussy, Beanie by Unused, Shoes by Clarks x Haven & Jewellery by Goodhood, Tom Wood & All Blues

What's your favourite piece in-store currently and why?

Flagstuff's Ice Logo F/Z Jacket. The fit is superb - oversized, nice and boxy - and the Haagen Daaz/Henry Rollins nod is great. Also, the new shape OG Vans Vault styles are perfect.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to try a new look?

Go for it. If it makes you happy, then it's probably a good thing.

Have you got any travel plans for this year? Where would you advise people to go and why?

New York and Tokyo. Oh and Primavera this summer. I would advise Japan, always and forever.

Conal

Cardigan by Beams, Shirt by Our Legacy, Trousers by YMC, Sneakers by New Balance x No Vacancy Inn & Chains by Goodhood

What new (GH) brands are you looking forward to wearing this year and why?
Real Bad Man ain’t exactly new to GH, but their output is always solid and I wanna own more of it this season. And WTAPS.

What's your favourite piece in-store currently and why?
Cheating a bit as it’s two pieces but the navy Nanamica Alphadry set - the Hooded Parka and Easy Pant - is a strong bit of product.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to try a new look?
Grow your wardrobe naturally with items that you like, don’t worry too much about going for a ‘look’. And go for staple items that’ll last season to season.

Ewa

Jacket by Wacko Maria, Long sleeve by Stray Rats, Bag by Porter & Shoes by Paraboot

What's your favourite piece in-store currently and why?
TOGA PULLA’s Check Jumper. Love the colour and texture, it’s a great transitional piece.

Have you got any travel plans for this year? Where would you advise people to go and why?
Japan! I’ll visit some Goodhood friends. Go to the Philippines, it’s so underrated. It’s literally a paradise with amazing nature, food and people!

Who's your hero of last year and why?
Freweini Mebrahtu. Read an article about her and followed her work since. (And of course Kyle Parry...)

John

Jacket by Levi's, Hoodie by Sasqautchfabrix, Trousers by Neighborhood, Boots by Red Wing & Flask by Kinto

What was the most exciting thing you've read, album you listened to or watched last year?
This Is Not a T-Shirt by Bobby Hundreds - relevant, relatable and a reminder to spend your time pursuing whatever it is you’re most passionate about.

What new (GH) brands are you looking forward to wearing this year and why?
Shoutout to Kowtow - very excited to see another New Zealand brand join our womenswear offering. They’re based in Wellington (my hometown) and I’ve been a longtime fan of their product! Never been afraid to browse the GH womenswear selection, especially for pants.

Who's your hero of last year and why?
Kobe Bryant, rest in power. Honestly still doesn’t quite feel real. Inspired a generation… My all-time hero.

Andrew

Parka by Nanamica, Jacket by Stone Island, Pants by Engineered Garments, Bag by Snow Peak & Shoes by Vans

What was the most exciting thing you've read, album you listened to or watched last year?
The most exciting thing I read, was Virgil saying that streetwear was dead, or maybe that Newcastle United had Signed Allain Saint Maximin. Good Times was the best thing I watched, that, and Miguel Almiron finally scoring!

Have you got any travel plans for this year? Where would you advise people to go and why?
Hopefully a long trip to the East Coast for Halloween. I would advise Amsterdam – it’s an amazing city with loads to do no matter what you’re into. Or Seville, it’s an incredible place, and the culture and pace of life is perfect.

Who’s your hero of last year and why?
Tough one. Plenty villains out there. Nobody I would really say was an out and out hero… I mean, who actually came out of 2019 looking good?!

Nicole

Jacket by Stussy, Top by Our Legacy, Vintage Trousers, Shoes by Converse x Brain Dead, Jewellery (Models Own) & Beanie by Unused

Are there any new styles, shapes or colours that you want to incorporate into your look this year?
I’d like to try to accessorise more, sometimes the small details make an outfit most interesting. Also fewer trainers, more shoes - eyes on the new women’s Paraboots...

What new (GH) brands are you looking forward to wearing this year and why?
Arizona Love - a statement yet simple sandal, perfect with a fun sock for spring/summer.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to try a new look?
Just go for it! But make whatever the styling piece is more personal by incorporating pieces you already own and feel comfortable in.

KyleP

Jacket by Nanamica, Shirt by Wacko Maria, Long sleeve by Fuct, £5 Joggers, Loafers by Toga Virilis & Sunglasses by Sun Buddies, Vintage Gold Jewellery.

We're a month into a new year, did you make any resolutions? If so, what were they and have you managed to stick to any?
Yep. I quit smoking and started boxing - I cycle every day too. I’m no fitness freak at all, but new-year new-me, and all that B.S. right?

What advice would you give to someone who wants to try a new look?
Who makes the rules on how we should look? Fuck em.

Who's your hero of last year and why?
*Plural - the NHS. They’ve saved my ass and someone very close to me a couple of times. A lot of people take them for granted in this country. They all deserve a medal IMO.
