What defines being conscious in 2025, and what does conscious mean to us? How do you practice consciousness within the clothing and goods production industry? As we continue to develop our understanding of what it means to be conscious, and how that manifests in Goodhood, we've defined a selection of our products into three key categories that are meaningful for us: Local, Small Makers and Sustainable.

Local

Supporting local industry, and moving towards a decentralised economy where possible, in a landscape of mass globalisation is something we believe in at Goodhood. In a conscious way we seek out, work with and buy from our local partners to actively build a localised economy. A localised economy keeps the benefit of industry within its geographic area and amongst its residents. Local makers, local to our store in East London, and its surroundings areas are a key part of the vision of a good neighbourhood (Goodhood). This way we support local industry, keep the money in the local economy, reduce the need for excess transportation, and keep the local area thriving. We feel strongly about keeping neighbourhoods, their stores and industries alive and by buying local, we can encourage our customers to shop local and we can all benefit from the thriving areas we live in and like to visit.

Small Makers

Giving small creative makers a platform on which to launch and showcase their brands and products was an important foundational belief when Goodhood first opened its doors in 2007. Our personal love of niche, interesting products, creative makers and cult labels fuelled the concept of Goodhood and our passion for these makers and brands is still a driving force to this day. To us, to be conscious is to support people and planet, so we can exist in a reciprocal way. By their nature small makers are decentralised and worthy of our support, and supporting creative culture and the people who make it is something we are active proponents of. We are committed to seeking out more and more in this realm for our customers to find and support small makers by buying and using their products.
