What inspired the music selection for the mix? 

Channeling lamb's bread, jah and sunshine through a filter of predominantly 00s lounge, downtempo and ambient.

What other musicians/DJ's keep you inspired? 

Recently I have been listening to lots of 00s African 'Outernational' Jazz-Fusion where jazz heads were doing live jungle tracks and trancey stuff alongside probably a bit too much reggae and dub both new and old from both sides of the Atlantic. Also I've been going back through my collection finding dope tech house (it exists if you look hard enough), breakbeat and other bits and bobs from the 'world' music spectrum. 

 

 

If you could go back to one time in music history, what would it be?

Almost definitely Kingston, Jamaica in the mid 70s. Hang out with Lee Scratch Perry, smoke it up and dub some killer backing tracks from the Upsetters. I wouldn't say no to the Viennan lounge scene in late 90s/early 00s either though!

What does 2017 hold for you?

Making sense of the world and my own mental state through music, art and design: all things Rhythm Section, focusing on making the new RS studio as good as possible, finding good music and hopefully making good music too... Good things basically! Next record out with YAM Records ;) ...
