The Trousers You Need for Winter

We’ve cut through the noise to deliver an essential guide to the trousers we’re rotating for Autumn/Winter ’23. Trousers provide the foundation to a good outfit, so get that right the rest will follow. This season we have the cult classic Needles track pant, the ultimate 2Pleat Tapered Trouser by BEAMS Plus, climbing pants, cargos, and more.

Climbing Pant

This season brands including Brain Dead and Magic castles have transformed the trouser into something gorp-core fanatics have slipped into their daily rotation but the OGs of the climbing pant has got to be Gramicci, a brand conceived way back in the 1970s. The iconic Gramicci Pant features their notorious logo embroidered belted waist, 100% cotton makeup, roomy fit and is available across a range of ‘core’ colours, making this trouser a 365 day front-runner. Explore the full range below.

Needles Track Pant

Needles founder Shimizu created the now iconic track pant because, simply put, he wanted to wear it and has done so every day for the past ten years. A staple item which goes with almost everything and is timeless yet feels fresh - that’s why we get behind this trademark trouser. This season, we’ve bought into the classic poly smooth iteration, alongside velour and patterned jacquard. Pair with anything from Paraboot, G.H Bass Weejuns or a classic sneaker for a look that can take you from smart to casual real quick.

Fatigue Pant

Traditionally designed in block colours with large patch pockets and belt loops, the fatigue pant is as stripped back as you can get. Originally designed as part of the US military’s OG-107 uniform (OG meaning olive green) back in 1952, and little has changed since. Super durable, lasts a lifetime and features a flattering straight leg fit. An adaptable trouser, wear with sneakers, shoes or boots.

2Pleat Tapered Trouser

2Pleat tapered trouser or the double pleat trouser feature offer a relaxed and comfortable straight-leg fit with a roomy mid-leg and tapered ankle for a timeless look. Popularised in Western men’s suits of the 1930s they became a go-to style in the late 1940s and 1950s and are just as relevant today in 2023. We’re pairing ours with Timberland's 3-Eye Classic Lug Shoe for a more formal look and feel.

Cargo Trouser

A trouser characterised by large pockets, cargo trousers were once uniform for British forces to hold field dressings, maps, and other items. Now, cargos have become a fixture of everyday wear, largely popularised during the 1990s. The baggier fit and multi-pocketed design means that this style has been adopted by many subcultures through the years; from skaters to hip-hop artists largely due to their utility and their counter-cultural appropriation. Now, brands such as WTAPS and Engineered Garments are reinforcing the silhouette with quintessentially Japanese styling whilst brands like STORY mfg. have adopted the style for their cult favourite Forager Pant.

Relaxed Wide Trouser

This season, this core staple trouser gets a multitude of makeovers from checkered, to buttoned, to pleated and embroidered. A trouser thats loose-fitted for ultimate comfort, we've brought together formal and casual styles from brands including Reception, The Trilogy Tapes and BEAMS Plus into the category below.

The Dickies Original 874 Pant

A stone cold classic. Everyone needs a pair in their wardrobe. One of the more affordable options of a true staple, robust, and reliable pant. Historically adopted by a multitude of sub cultures from the workman, to 90s hip hop groups, to skaters. Made from heavyweight cotton (8.5 oz), these trousers are designed for a relaxed, straight leg and have a comfortable mid-waist rise, they're built to last.

Baggy Jeans

Still an easy and casual staple for everyday life, jeans need little introduction, obviously. From baggy skate-friendly silhouettes to something that feels slightly more premium, brands like Our Legacy have brought back jeans in a big way. Featuring a reasonably high waist, worn low-ish on the hips with a baggier straight-leg fit, Our Legacy jeans are instantly recognisable and are today, the GOAT of this trouser option. Elsewhere, Stan Ray and Stussy continue to champion a more work pant inspired take on denim jeans. Check out our selection below.

The modern day Sweatpant has become an essential item in our day-to-day wardrobe. Plastered with good graphics or plain-body for a subtle pop of everyday luxe, brands like Aries, Heresy and AFFXWRKS have adopted this style as a collection mainstay, not to mention our very on in-house line Goodhood Worldwide (more from us on route).
