Talk Talk's 1988 album abandoned the synth-pop of their early career entirely, replacing it with a sprawling, improvised, largely acoustic sound that helped invent what would later be called post-rock. Recorded in near-darkness over months of sessions, it remains a genuinely singular listening experience — patient, atmospheric and quietly radical.
